UW-Stout 4, UW-Eau Claire 2
EAU CLAIRE (November 20, 2021) - UW-Stout scored two goals in the third period to defeat nearby rival UW-Eau Claire 4-2 Saturday at Hobbs Ice Arena.
With the score tied at 2-2 after the second period, Stout (2-6-0, 2-0-0 WIAC) scored twice in less than a 90 second time span early in the third period.
Raphael Gosselin broke the tie at the 4:34 mark of the third and less than 90 seconds later, Stout made it a two-goal game when
Peyton Hart scored his second goal in two outings when he scored at 5:59. Hart was assisted by
Matt Dahlseide and
Caleb Serre.
The Blue Devils scored first in the contest and
Riley Enderle, suiting up for the first time this season, made a splash when he scored at 15:30 of the first period. Stout doubled the score only 19 seconds into the second period when
Joey Petronack scored his first goal of the season, with an assist by
Kobe Keller.
Eau Claire (3-4-0, 1-1-0 WIAC) tied the score in the second. Kyle Oleksiuk scored at the 1:30 mark and Andrew McGlinn scored at 9:50.
Tyler Masternak snared his second win of the season - and his second win of the week. The freshman recorded a 3-1 win over Northland Thursday, and kept up the effort again tonight, recording 24 saves. Ryan Ouellette recorded 19 saves for Eau Claire.
The win was Stout's first over the Blugolds since a 3-2 win, Feb. 24, 2017, in the WIAC tournament. The two goals is also the biggest winning margin since Stout blanked Eau Claire, 2-0, Feb. 3, 2021.
The Blue Devils are off until Friday, Dec. 3 when they begin a three-game conference home stand by hosting UW-Stevens Point at 7 p.m. Stout will entertain UW-Superior, Saturday, Dec. 4 and UW-River Falls, Friday, Dec. 10.
