MENOMONIE (November 12, 2021) - Augsburg University (3-0-0), ranked #7 in the latest USCHO poll, downed UW-Stout 3-0. The Auggies scored one goal in the first period and two goals in the third period.
To start the game, it only took Augsburg 27 seconds to score their first goal. Austin Koss got a pass from Austin Dollimer and put it home to make the game 1-0. Keenan Lund also had an assist on the goal.
With 8:36 remaining in the period, Stout saw their first opportunity at a power play. With a few chances to score by the Blue Devils, the Auggies eventually killed off the penalty without giving up a goal.
Augsburg went on a power play with 5:12 to score, but Stout's
Zack Cloutier made a few good saves to keep the the Blue Devils within one goal.
In the first period, shots were in favor of Augsburg 11-10 and the score was 1-0.
In the second period, Stout went on a power play six minutes into the period. But 50 seconds into the power play, the Blue Devils committed a penalty and both teams skated four on four for 1:10. Augsburg gained a skater and went on a power play for 50 seconds, but Stout killed the penalty off and the score remained 1-0.
With 10:39 left in the second period, Augsburg went on another power play, but the Blue Devils killed of the penalty.
Stout went on a power play with 1:20 left to go in the period, but couldn't find the back of the net.
In the third period, Stout started on the power play with 41 seconds. But Augsburg killed off the penalty.
At 7:13 of the period, the Blue Devils committed a penalty and Augsburg went on another power play. During the power play, Stout committed another penalty during the power play to skate down two players with 24 seconds. Stout killed off the first penalty to go to five on four, but the Auggies found the back of the net for a power play goal. The goal came at 9:58 of the period when Keenen Lund scored with assists coming from Patrick O'Connor and Austin Martinson.
Augsburg tacked on another goal at 11:17 of the period when Konnor Carlson scored on an assist from Mason Palmer to make the game 3-0.
The game ended with Augsburg winning the contest 3-0.
Auggie's Samuel Vyletelka recorded a shutout finishing the game with 19 saves. Blue Devil's
Zack Cloutier finished the game with 33 saves.
