UW-Stevens Point 3, UW-Stout 0
MENOMONIE (October 1, 2021) - UW-Stout dropped three straight sets against nationally ranked UW-Stevens Point Friday in Johnson Fieldhouse
Stout fought hard the first set, only losing 25-21, before falling in the second 25-16. Stout battled back in the third set, but the the Pointers sealed the match with a 25-22 third set. 
The Blue Devils (9-7, 1-2 WIAC) took on the 19th ranked Stevens Point (16-3, 3-0 WIAC). Stout came out strong in the first set, keeping the Pointers on their heels, losing a close first set which saw eight tied scores. In the second set, Stevens Point protected the net, led by Sydney Mosinski and Ashley Kopp. Mosinski had 11 kills and two solo blocks for the Pointers. 
After coming out of the extended interval, the Blue Devils jumped out to a commanding 10-4 lead to start to third set. Keeping the energy high, Stout went on to extend their lead by nine, taking a 18-9 lead over the Pointers. Stevens Point then went on their own run, outscoring Stout 13-4, tying the game at 22-22. The Pointers went on to win the next three points, sealing the match in the third set.
Sidney Hoverman led the Blue Devils with 10 kills, with 
Lexie Nelson, 
Jessica Barr, and 
Emili Cain each having four of their own. Nelson also had 18 assists.  Mosinski had 11 kills for the Pointers and Kopp, the conference kills leader, finished with 10. 
Stevens Point was able to win the game at the net, having a 39-26 advantage in kills and a 6.0-3.0 advantage in total blocks. 
Stout will start a four game road stretch against WIAC opponent UW-River Falls on Wednesday, Oct. 6. They will return to Johnson Fieldhouse on Friday, Oct. 15, to face UW-Oshkosh.
