UW-Stout 73, UW-River Falls 57
RIVER FALLS (February 5, 2020) - UW-Stout cashed in on a season-high 11 3-pointers and went on to defeat UW-River Falls, 73-57, Wednesday at Page Arena to break a four game skid.
The Blue Devils (13-7, 4-5 WIAC) led by only three points at the first break, but jumped out to 38-28 halftime lead on the strength of eight first half 3-pointers.
Amber Fabeck stepped outside to connect on three first half 3-pointers and
Liz Oswald drained three long-range bombs as well in the first half.
Stout piled up the points in the seconds, several times running out to as much as a 20 point lead.
Fabeck went on to lead all scorers with 17 points and Oswald finished with 13 points. Brianna Koop led the Falcons (5-15, 0-9 WIAC) with 13 points. Lori Wardysnki added 12 points.
Stout shot 41.9 percent for the game (26-62) and was 11 of 22 from 3-point range. Stout had four 3-pointers in each the first and second quarters. River Falls shot 37.7 percent (20-53) for the game. Stout had 10 players score and had 13 players with at least one rebound. The 11 treys is only one 3-pointer short of the team school record of 12 that was accomplished six different times, the latest in 2011.
The Blue Devils held a decided advantage off the glass, yanking down 39 rebounds to 25 for the Falcons. Stout's
Haylee Yaeger had a game-high eight rebounds in addition to nine points.
The Blue Devils will travel to UW-Platteville Saturday, Feb. 8, then return to Johnson Fieldhouse to host UW-La Crosse, Wednesday, Feb. 12.
