River Falls 3, Stout 0 (mini-game)
RIVER FALLS (February 22, 2020) - UW-River Falls scored a 4-1 win to the first round WIAC Championship first round game to force a 20-minute mini-game and the Falcons captured the mini-game, 3-0, Saturday at Hunt Arena over UW-Stout to advance to the second round of the WIAC Championship. The Blue Devils had won the first game of the series, 5-2, the night before.
In the regulation game, the Falcons (16-8-3) scored the first four goals of the game. Joel Frazee scored twice for River Falls in the first period, scoring at 8:03 and again at 19:17.
The Falcons scored twice more in the third period. Christian Hausinger scored at 1:44 and Josh Arnold scored at 18:00.
Stout's
Connor Chambers broke up the shutout with the Blue Devils' (8-18-1) only goal of the game coming at 18:47 of the final period.
Brennan Kitchen recorded 19 saves for Stout and Zach Quinn had 28 saves for the Falcons.
In the 20-minute mini-game, the Falcons' Hausinger, Ryan Cusin and Cayden Cahill scored for a 3-1 win to advance to the second round of the WIAC Championship where they will meet defending national champion UW-Stevens Point, Feb. 28-29.
