MENOMONIE (January 22, 2020) - Every time UW-Stout would make a run at UW-La Crosse, the Eagles would answer back and went on to hand the Blue Devils a 74-60 loss Wednesday on Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse.
Stout (5-12, 1-5 WIAC) trailed 37-28 at halftime, but came out of the locker room to cut the lead to seven points. The Eagles (14-2, 4-2 WIAC) built the lead back up to 10 points, 43-33, and Stout answered back to get the score to five points, 43-38, on baskets by
Luke Geiger and
Cliff McCray and a free throw by
Josh Mericle.
La Crosse responded with their own 6-0 run to back up by 11, 49-38, Stout got the score as close as six points again, 52-44, on a basket by Geiger at 11:40. The teams would trade baskets until the Eagles put some more space for a 10 point lead, 61-51, and Stout would not get as close again.
The Eagles were led by Wyatt Cook with 17 points, Ethan Anderson with 16 points, Terek Nesheim with 13 points and Luke Norcia with 12 points.

The Blue Devils were led by Geiger, who scored a game-high 20 points, 13 in the second half.
Jon Ciriacks scored 12 points.
Stout will be at UW-Stevens Point, Saturday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m..
