St. Thomas 7, UW-Stout 2
MENOMONIE (September 25, 2019) -
Elizabeth Wentzel and
Lauren Couves breezed through their No. 1 doubles match with the University of St. Thomas, Wednesday at the UW-Stout South Courts.
The freshman pair gave up only one game on their way to an 8-1 decision over Helen Watkins and Sarah Gustafson to lead off the day. Couves also took a win at No. 2 singles, 6-0. 6-1, over Watkins.
The Blue Devils dropped the match 7-2. The match was originally scheduled to be played two weeks earlier but was rained out.
Mariah Kent wen three sets before falling to Sophie Dahlke at No. 4 singles. Dahlke took the first set, 6-3, but Kent charged back to take a 6-4 win in the second set. Dahlke went past Kent 10-6 in the final set to earn the match. Kent and
Kennedy Kleist lost 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Stout returns to action Saturday, Sept. 28 in St. Joseph, Minn., where they will face host St. Benedict and Bemidji State.
