RIVER FALLS (February 16, 2019) – UW-River Falls unceremoniously bounced UW-Stout from the WIAC Men's Hockey Championship (presented by Culver's) by shutting out the Blue Devils 3-0 at Hunt Arena Saturday night.

The Falcons opened the scoring midway through the first period on a power play goal by Joel Frazee, then added two more goals in the second period on goals by Josh Arnold and Ryan Cusin. The third period was scoreless as the Blue Devils were shut out for the first time this season.Â

The Falcons outshot Stout, 26-22. River Falls was 1-4 on the power play, Stout 0-2.

The Blue Devils finished the season at 13-12-2. The Falcons (12-9-5) advance to the second round of the WIAC championship, traveling to top-ranked UW-Stevens Point, Feb. 22-23.
The game was the final collegiate game for
Mathias Ahman,
Joe Kleven,
Dylan Zins and
Gavin Smith.
Ahman finished his career with 25 goals, 29 assists and 54 points. He had 14 power play goals. Kleven finished his career with 13 goals, 32 assists and 45 goals. Zins finished with 12 goals, 16 assists and 28 points. Smith finished with 17 goals, 17 assists and 34 points.Â
