UW-Stout 72, Salisbury University 63
NAPLES, Fla (December 29, 2019) – UW-Stout went 8-8 from the free throw line in the last minute of play to hold off Salisbury University, 72-63, Sunday at the Naples Shootout.

Emily Jacques was 4-4 in the final minute from the line and
Liz Oswald and
Shannan Watkins each hit two charity shots.
Â
Watkins led all scorers with 18 points.
Becky Fesenmaier matched a career-high 14 points and
Amber Fabeck had 12 points. Jacques finished with seven points.
The Blue Devils (8-2) held a six point lead at the end of the first quarter, then stretched that to a 32-24 halftime lead. The Sea Gulls (7-6) outscored Stout in the third period 19-10 to lead at the end of the third period, 43-42. Watkins and Fabeck accounted for 17 of Stout's 30 fourth quarter points, with Watkins scoring nine and Fabeck eight.Â
Both teams were nearly identical in turnovers, with Salisbury turning the ball over 17 times and Stout 15 times, but the Blue Devils made the most of their turnovers, scoring 30 points off those turnovers, compared to Salisbury's 16 points off turnovers. The Blue Devils made 23 of 29 free throw attempts, compared to 14 of 17 for Salisbury. Salisbury out-rebounded Stout 45-36.Â
Jada Welbon scored 16 points for Salisbury and Kaylee Otlowski had 14 points and 11 rebounds.Â
