UW-Platteville 83, UW-Stout 73
PLATTEVILLE (January 26, 2019) - A strong second half was not enough to push UW-Stout over UW-Platteville. The Pioneers shot 71 percent in the first half and raced to an 83-73 win over UW-Stout Saturday. Stout outscored the Pioneers 52-26 in the second half to pull to within 10 points as both teams began the second round of WIAC play.

The Pioneers (12-7, 5-3 WIAC) took a 57-31 lead over the Blue Devils (6-13, 0-8 WIAC) at halftime by hitting 23 of 32 first half shots, including six 3-point attampts. . Stout made 15 of 32 second half shots and drained five 3-pointers for a total of nine 3-pointers. .

The Pioneers' Robert Duax led all scorers with 25 points. Quentin Shields added 14 points and Carter Voelker and Blake McCann contributed 11 points each.

For the fifth consecutive game, the Blue Devils were led by
Luke Geiger, who tossed in 18 points.
Braden Walbeck scored a season-best 14 points.
Zach Miller came off the bench to score a career-best seven points in the second half. Miller was 3 for 3 from the floor with a 3-point shot.Â
Stout will host UW-River Falls, Wednesday, Jan. 30 for Youth Night. All youth 12-and-under will get in free. The first 50 kids will get a free t-shirt.
