UW-River Falls 96, UW-Stout 73
MENOMONIE (January 31, 2019) - A hot shooting UW-River Falls team on a cold day spelled trouble for UW-Stout as the Falcons defeated the Blue Devils, 96-73, Thursday on Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Falcons (9-11, 2-7 WIAC) shot 60.0 percent (18-30) and only got hotter as the night went along, finishing by shooting 61.5 percent (32-52) for the game.
The Blue Devils (6-14, 0-9 WIAC), by contrast, shot 40.7 percent (11-27) in the first half, hit 48.4 percent (15-31) in the second half to finish at 44.8 percent (26-58).
River Falls connected on 10 of 16 3-pointers and were 22 of 30 from the free throw line.
River Falls took a 42-31 halftime lead as Julian Jackson scored 16 first half points. The Blue Devils countered with 10 points each from
Jon Ciriacks and
Luke Geiger in the first half, but Stout could never seem to get over the hump.
Jackson led four Falcons in double figures with 23 points. Austin Heidecker had 19 points, Jack Stensgard 14 and Noah Hanson 10.
Geiger and Ciriacks each finished with 16 points.
The Falcons held a 37-24 advantage off the glass.
