UW-Superior 3, UW-Stout 2
MENOMONIE (January 25, 2019) -Â UW-Stout scored the last two goals of the game, but UW-Superior jumped out for two goals in the first period, then added a third goal in the second period and did enough to hold off the Blue Devils, 3-2, Friday at the Fanetti Community Center.

The Yellowjackets' Troy York scored at 6:02 of the first, and Levi Cudmore scored with less than a minute left in the period to give Superior (7-11-2, 1-1-1 WIAC) a 2-0 lead. York scored his second goal of the game, a power play goal, at 4:17 in the second and the visitor led, 3-0.

The Blue Devils (13-7-1, 0-3-1 WIAC) finally found the back of the net only two seconds before the end of the period when
Arturas Laukaitis scored on a 4 on 3 power play to put the Blue Devils on the board.

Stout got a second power play goal at 6:49 of the third period on a shot by
Mathias Ahman.

The Blue Devils pulled their goalie with a minute left while they were one man down, but could not get off a quality shot.
The two teams combined for 17 penalties, with all but two coming in the second (eight penalties) and third periods (nine). Stout collected eight penalties and the Yellowjackets were whistled nine times. Stout was 2 for 7 on the power play, while Superior was 1 for 6.Â
The Blue Devils outshot the Yellowjackets, 37-27. Stout's
Tommi Ahlgren had 24 saves, while the Yellowjackets' Oscar Swensson made 35 saves.
Stout returns to action Friday, Feb. 1 when they host top-ranked UW-Stevens Point at 7 p.m. Stout will be at UW-River Falls, Saturday, Feb. 2.
