Jack Hemsath and
Tim Bott both drove in a pair of runs to key a 6-2, first game win, as UW-Stout split a pair of game with Hamline University Wednesday at US Bank Stadium. The Pipers took a 9-2 second game win.
Stout (1-3) opened the first game with a single run in the bottom of the first inning.
Kyle Hamilton drew a one-out walk, then advanced to second on a passed ball. Hemsath racked up his first RBI of the night, driving Hamilton in with a single to right field.
The Blue Devils built onto their lead with a three-run fourth inning. Hemsath clubbed a one-out single to left field then, following an out, moved to second on
Joel Hollow's single.
Ryan Morrison drove Hemsath with a double to center field. Following a pitching change by the Pipers (1-1), Bott greeted him with a two-run single to left center to give Stout a 4-0 lead.
Blue Devil starter
Jack Donahue run into a little trouble in the top of the fifth when RBIs by Nolan Schoonveld and Nick Kukurich cut Stout's lead to 4-2. Donahue allowed the bases to fill, but got the final out with a strikeout.
The Blue Devils stretched the lead to 5-3 on Hemsath's sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Stout added another run in the sixth inning on Hamilton's single to center field.
Donahue picked up the win, striking out five and walking one. Donahue allowed four hits.
Wyatt Ernstmeyer came on in the sixth inning and struck out three to get the save.
Hemsath was 2-for-2 with two RBI, while Bott was 1-for-2 with two RBI. Stout finished with eight hits and the Pipers recorded five.
After surrendering two runs in the bottom of the first of the second game, Stout gave up five runs in the second inning, while committing two errors. The Pipers had single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Stout got on the board in the seventh inning.

Danny Deis singled in a run to get his first collegiate RBI.
Both teams collected seven hits and Stout used five different pitchers. The Pipers' Schoonveld scattered five hits and pitched six innings of shutout ball.
Deis was 2-for-3 for Stout and Hollow was 2-for-2. Mitch Benson, Kukurich and Cullen Buck each drove in two runs apiece. Buck was 2-for-3.
Stout will travel south to play seven games in their annual spring break trip, March 11-17. Stout will open the Fort Myers, Fla., trip by playing Edgewood College, Sunday, March 11 at 3 p.m.
