MENOMONIE (November 3, 2018) - Trailing, 33-32, UW-Stout drove 76 yards on 14 plays in 5-minutes, 15-seconds and scored what proved to be the game-winning TD with four seconds when senior captain
Keyshawn Carpenter bowled in from the 2-yard line with four seconds remaining to give the Blue Devils a 38-33 decision over UW-Platteville on Senior Day Saturday at Williams Stadium.
Â
The Pioneers called a fair catch on the ensuing kickoff to stop the clock, and had the ball on their own 25 with four seconds remaining. Stout's
Dylan Peterson and
Zach Donahue sacked Platteville quarterback Brett Geisz to end the game.
Â
In a game that exceeded three hours by more than 15 minutes, combined penalty yardage exceeded 300 yards, with Stout getting called 13 times for 167 yards and Platteville 13 times for 136 yards.
Â
Stout (5-4, 3-3 WIAC) finished with 414 total yards of offense, while the Platteville (4-5, 2-4 WIAC) offense compiled 408 yards of offense. Stout had 333 yards of passing and 81 yards rushing. The Pioneers had 295 yards of passing and 113 yards rushing.

Tyler Seymour had three catches for 86 yards and senior tight end
Dustin Rondorf had a career day with three catches for 70 yards, including a touchdown and a two-point conversion pass.
Rondorf played a big part in the Blue Devils' first two scores. Rondorf had a 27-yard reception - up to that point a career-long - down to the Platteville 9 to set up Borgerding nine yard touchdown.
The Pioneers put a 15-play drive together, only to lose the ball on downs after fourth-and-goal fumble.Â
On second down of the next drive, Borgerding hit Rondorf over the middle for a 40-yard pickup to the Platteville 35. Borgerding connected with
Levy Hamer on the next play for a 19-yard pass to the 16 and, two plays later, Borgerding connected with
Parker Fossum for a 13-yard play to the Platteville 3 to end the first quarter. Rondorf hauled in his first collegiate TD pass, a three-yard toss from Borgerding and Stout led 14-7.
The Pioneers cut the lead in half, going 72 yards on six plays, with much of the yardage coming on a Jansen 56-yard reception to the Stout 6 and Stout's lead was 14-7. playÂ
The Blue Devils got that TD back when Borgerding and Hamer teamed up for the longest play from scrimmage for the season on an 83-yard touchdown.
The Pioneers made it 21-13 when Jansen burned Stout again, this time for another 56-yard reception he took into the end zone. The kick was wide and Stout led 21-13 at 9:21 of the second period. The Pioneers pulled to within one, 21-20, when Donald Allender scored on a 10-yard pass from Geisz. The play was set up by a 25-yard reception by Jansen.
If there was any momentum for either team, it switched to Platteville in the third quarter. Borgerding was picked off by Tyler Reinhart, who returned the ball to the Stout 22. A four-year game by Bo Babich was followed by a 18-yard rushing score by Ke'Von Johnson. The pass for two-points failed, and Platteville led for the first time in the game, 26-21.Â
Stout scored early in the fourth when
Rayshawn Graham ran in from the 2 and Borgerding's two-point pass to Rondorf was good to give Stout the 29-26 lead. The Blue Devils extended the lead to 32-26 on a 42-yard field goal by
Drew Pearson.
But the Pioneers would not go away. Aided by a Stout personal foul on the kickoff, Platteville started from the Stout 46. With the exception a seven yard pass to Connor Fedderly and with the help of a second Stout personal foul penalty. Geisz rolled into the end zone from the 5-yard line and a MIke Pratl extra point put the Pioneers back up, 33-32.
The Blue Devils' Borgerding went to work with 5:19 left on the clock, methodically moving the ball handing off to Carpenter, running three times - including a key third down run to keep the drive alive - and two receptions to Seymour.
Tyler Seymour pulled in a pass and turned into a 36-yard play on third down, then added a 10-yard reception for a first down. Carpenter touched the ball six times in the drive for 16 yards, including the two-yard score up the middle.
