St. Olaf 5, UW-Stout 1
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (October 3, 2018) - St. Olaf College scored three goals in the first, then wrapped two goals around UW-Stout's only goal in the second half as the Oles defeated the Blue Devils 5-1 Wednesday.
After a scoreless 35 minutes, the Oles (7-2-1) scored in a blitz, scored three goals within four minutes.
The Oles added a goal in the 50th minute before Stout (2-8-1) got on the board when
Bella Pedlar scored unassisted in the 60th minute, breaking the plane of the net with a shot from the top of the box. St. Olaf added one more goal in the 87th minute.
St. Olaf outshot the Blue Devils 31-5 overall, and 14-3 on net.
Claudia Anderson and
Melissa Ferrise combined to make nine saves, with Anderson making three saves over the first 57 minutes and Ferrise staying very busy in the final 33 minutes with six saves. The Oles' Rachel Nelson recorded two saves.
Stout returns to conference action Saturday, Oct. 6 when they travel to UW-Oshkosh for a 2 p.m. contest.
