UW-Stevens Point 73, UW-Stout 63
STEVENS POINT (January 6, 2018) - UW-Stout saw a 14-point halftime lead evaporate as UW-Stevens Point outscored the Blue Devils 24-8 in the final period to down the Blue Devils, 73-63, Saturday at Berg Gym.

The Pointers (7-6, 1-1 WIAC) were led by Taylor Barrett with a game-high 22 points. Mickey Roland had a huge double-double, putting down 17 points and added 18 rebounds. Brooke Geier finished with 14 points.

Anna Brown led Stout (7-6, 0-2 WIAC) with 16 points, two under her career-best, and
Kyncaide Diedrich scored 14 points, all in the first half.
Diedrich scored 12 points in the first quarter to propel Stout to a 28-17 lead at the first break. Stout held as much as a 16 point lead late in the second quarter. The Pointers closed the third quarter on a 10-0 run. The Pointers' Geier (nine points) and Barrett (eight points) combined for 17 points in the fourth quarter.
Stout shot 62.5 percent from the floor in the first quarter, hitting 10 of 16 shots, including 4 of 5 3-pointers and all four free throw attempts. Diedrich was hit all three field goal attempts, including two 3-pointers and all four free throw attempts. The Blue Devils finished the game hitting 24 of 60 (40.0 percent) from the floor. They knocked down 8 of 19 3-pointers (42.1) and 7 of 10 free throws.
The Pointers feasted at the line, draining 26 of 32 attempts as Stout was whistled for 23 fouls. The Pointers were 22 of 61 (36.1) from the floor. They made 3 of 14 3-pointers, only one in the second half. Stevens Point held a 40-37 advantage off the glass.
The Blue Devils begin a four-game homestand next week when they host UW-Oshkosh, Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. Stout will host UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Jan. 13 at 3 p.m.
