UW-La Crosse 79, UW-Stout 64
LA CROSSE (January 24, 2018) - UW-Stout held the lead for much of the first two periods, but UW-La Crosse went on a 16-4 run to end the second quarter and take a one-point lead at halftime and went on to a 79-64 win over the Blue Devils Wednesday at Mitchell Hall.
La Crosse (12-6, 5-2 WIAC) jumped out to a 49-41 lead with 5:07 remaining in the third quarter. Stout (7-11, 0-7 WIAC) got a pair of buckets by
Kyncaide Diedrich to cut the lead to four points, 49-45, before the Eagles went off on a 9-1 run to take a 58-46 lead with 1:42 left in the quarter. Stout did pull to within five points on a 3-pointer by
Bailey Diersen early in the fourth quarter, but that would be as close as they got the rest of the way.
The Eagles' Elise DeNoyer led all scorers with 25 points. Delaney Schoenburger dropped in 16 points, and Kyle Marks and Taylor Nelson each scored 10 points.
Diedrich led Stout with 23 points and Diersen finished with 17 points.
Stout shot 45.3 percent (24-53) from the field, hitting 4 of 14 3-pointers and 12 of 20 free throws. The Eagles shot 52.4 percent (33-63) from the floor and hit 6 of 18 3-pointers and was 7 of 9 from the line. La Crosse out-rebounded Stout, 36-30.
Stout returns to Johnson Fieldhouse Saturday, Jan. 27 when they host UW-Platteville at 3 p.m. on Alumni Day.
