Gustavus Adolphus 2, UW-Stout 1
ST. PETER, Minn. (September 19, 2017) - UW-Stout tied the game early in the second half, but Gustavus Adolphus gained the game-winning goal with less than eight minutes remaining to take a 2-1 win Tuesday on the Gustavus campus.
The Gusties (5-1-0) opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Abby Mullenbach scored off an assist by Hannah Sturz.
Freshman
Kaitlyn Hess (Wisconsin Rapids) tied the game for the Blue Devils (1-4-0), scoring on a pass from
Ryanne Millis (So, Shakopee, Minn) four minutes into the second period for her second goal of the season.
Gustavus' Josie Mazzone broke the tie in the 83rd minute with an assist by Sophie Leininger.
Gustavus outshot Stout 19-8 for the game, but held an 11-3 advantage at the halftime time break.
Lynn Johnson (So, Shakopee, Minn) recorded four saves before giving way to
Rachel Nowak (Fr, Lomira) with 15 minutes remaining. Nowak absorbed the loss, her first.
The game kicked off a three-game week. Stout returns to Menomonie to host Bethel University, Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. and will travel to La Crosse to meet Viterbo University, Saturday, Sept. 23.
