SUPERIOR (May 3, 2017) - After outhitting UW-Superior, but losing in the first game, 11-4, UW-Stout bounced back in a big way to take the second game of a seven-inning doubleheader, 20-10.
In the second game, Stout's
Noah Brown belted seven RBI, the most RBI in a single game by a Stout player since
Erik Johnson recorded seven April 14, 2008 against UW-Whitewater. Brown had two doubles while going 3-for-5.
Jordan Wilson was 4-for-5 with four RBI and four runs scored, including a two-run triple in the fourth inning.
Reid Akerman had a three-run home run in the six-run sixth inning.
Kasey Bass was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
The game was close through the first three innings, with Stout (9-24) scoring two runs in both the first and second innings. The Yellowjackets scored a single run in the first inning.
Stout took control with a six-run fourth inning, then took a 12-1 lead before the Yellowjackets (11-23) put eight on the board in the fifth inning, but Stout jumped out to an 18-9 lead with a six-run sixth inning.
Stout outhit the Yellowjackets, 20-6. The 'Jackets were charged with five errors. The 20 runs by Stout was the most runs by a Stout team since the Blue Devils scored 29 runs in a 29-1 win over Finlandia, April 3, 2010.

In game one, the Blue Devils outhit the Yellowjackets, 12-11, but the Yellowjackets opened with a four-run first and never trailed. The Jackets scored two runs in the second, two in the fourth and three in the fifth. Stout stranded eight runners,
Matthew Boyde was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI to lead the Yellowjackets.
Wilson had a solo home run in the third inning and was one of five Blue Devils to rack up two hits.
Joel Hollow, Brown,
Matt Emmer and
Derek Graves each had two hits.
Stout will close the regular season when they travel to UW-Stevens Point, Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6.
