MENOMONIE (April 28, 2017) – The Blue Devils scored 17 runs in their first two games with the Titans of Oshkosh, but were able to grab only one win in the first day of double headers. Stout was led by Jordan Wilson and Joel Hollow to get the one win.
Stout scored seven runs in the seventh inning to take the first game win. After a string of singles, Sam Waters found another single, but two errors from the Titans brought two runners home to make it an eight run lead. Wilson then stepped up with two outs and homered to left center to give Stout two more runs, and produce a walk-off of sorts. The game ended in seven innings.
The second game was much tighter. The two teams were knotted at three after a Hollow homerun over the left field foul pole. Hollow then scored another run in the third after Jon Krueger flied out to right, and Wilson scored again in the eighth off an Oshkosh error, but it wasn't enough. The Titans stormed back in the top of the ninth to score four runs and gain a 8-5 lead. The Blue Devils advanced runners in the ninth, but could not close the deal.
Derek Graves got the win for the Blue Devils in the first game, going all seven innings and striking out three batters. Casey Ryan took the loss in the second game.
The Blue Devils will battle the Titans again tomorrow at Nelson field. The game is set for a 12 p.m. first pitch.
