MENOMONIE (November 29, 2017) - All five UW-Stout starters scored in double digits, but the Blue Devils could not keep up with Bethany Lutheran College's long-range shooting and the Vikings downed the Blue Devils 84-69 Wednesday on Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Vikings (2-4) drained 14-of-28 shots from beyond the arc, including dropping in nine 3-pointers in the first half to take a 44-39 lead at intermission.
Bethany shot out to a 10 point, 49-39, lead just a minute into the second half, but Stout (3-3) cut the lead to two points, 49-47, as
Zach Dahl scored four points in the run and
Sam Ortmann and
Brandyn Christman each scored a bucket. But the Vikings would slowly extend their lead, first to five points, then hang around a seven or eight point lead. Bethany reached an 11 point lead, 73-62, with 4:29 left, and finished on an 11-7 advantage.
Brady Rose and Trenton Krueger each scored 22 points, with Rose scoring 19 in the first half for the visitors. Bradley Rose added 10 points.
Stout was led by Dahl's career-best 17 points, hitting 6-of-10 from the field, with a 3-pointer, and 5-of-5 from the line.
Keegan Dickson chipped in 13 points. Ortmann,
Joe Duty and
Isaac Elliott each scored 10 points.
Stout was 29-of-61 (.475) from the field, 6-of-17 (.353) from 3-point range and 5-of-9 (.556) from the line.
The Vikings shot 16-of-31 (.516) from the floor and their 14-of-28 3-pointers was a 50 percent clip. Bethany was
