Blue Devils blow past St. Olaf with strong second quarter

NORTHFIELD, Minn (November 28, 2017) - Trailing 19-14 after the first period, guard Kyncaide Diedrich sparked a 20-4 second period as UW-Stout shot ahead of St. Olaf on their way to an 81-55 win Tuesday at Skoglund Center.

Diedrich scored 10 of her game-high 22 points (matching a career-high) in the second quarter as Stout (3-2) went from a five point deficit to an 11 point, 34-23, halftime advantage. The game would never get any closer the rest of the way and both teams were able to empty their bench.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 30-65 (.462) from the floor and hit 9-21 (.429) from 3-point range.

The Blue Devils found a new weapon from beyond the arc as post player Amber Fabeck stepped out to hit 3-of-4 3-pointers and finished with a career-best 14 points. Fabeck also recorded a collegiate-best four assists.

Guard Bailey Diersen added 20 points, going 7-14 from the floor, including one 3-pointer, and was 5-6 from the free throw line. She also had four steals.

Diedrich, who recorded a team-best eight rebounds, was 9-12 from the floor, 2-5 from 3-point range and made both free throw attempts.
 
Ella Skrien led St. Olaf (2-5) with 13 points. Mahkenna Ash had 12. St. Olaf was 23-56 (.411) from the floor, 4-12 (.333) from 3-point range and 5-13 (.385) from the line.
 
Stout will be at UW-Superior, Friday, Dec. 1, then return home to host Northland College, Saturday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m.
