STEVENS POINT (November 24, 2017) - Aurora University outshot UW-Stout in two of three periods and scored in the second and third periods, going on to a 2-0 win over UW-Stout 2-0 Friday in the first game of the UW-Stevens Point Holiday Tournament sponsored by Ascension at KB Willett Arena.
Aurora's Drew Doyon scored two goals, one in the second and one in the third. The teams had played to a 3-3 tie during the opening weekend of the season.
Aurora outshot Stout, 33-19, for the game. The Blue Devils outshot the Spartans, 7-5, in the first period, but Aurora held 16-8 and 12-4 advantages in the final two stanzas.
Stout's
Tommi Ahlgren recorded 33 saves, while Aurora's Josh Boyka made 19 saves.
Both teams were 0-3 on the power play.
Konnar Dechaine had three shots to lead Stout and
Adam Kresl had two.
Stout will play the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Saturday, Nov. 25 at 3:30 p.m. The Raiders tied UW-Stevens Point, 2-2, but the Pointers advanced 1-0 in a shootout. The Raiders are ranked 12th in the latest USCHO.com Division III poll.
