Ripon College 59, UW-Stout 45
RIPON (November 21, 2017) - Ripon College used a 17-6 third quarter to go past UW-Stout Tuesday at Weiske Gymnasium and handed UW-Stout a 59-45 decision.
The Red Hawks (2-1) never trailed in the game and built the lead throughout the first half, holding a 13-8 first quarter decision and a 29-20 halftime lead. The third quarter outburst by the Red Hawks was combined with a cold shooting quarter by the Blue Devils. Stout (1-2)Â hit only 1 of 14 from the floor in the period and scored four points at the free throw line.
Ripon only shot 29 percent in the period, dropping in 5 of 19 shots, but hit seven free throws. Ripon ruled the board throughout the night, but especially in the third. For the game, Ripon pulled down 63 rebounds to Stout's 37. In the period, Ripon held a 24-8 advantage.
The lead in rebounding showed up in second chance points for the two teams. For the game, Ripon scored 24 second chance points, compared to Stout's seven.
Neither team shot particularly well from the floor, Ripon shooting 27.9 percent (17-61) and Stout 25.0 percent (15-60).

Kyncaide Diedrich was the only Blue Devil to reach double digit scoring, scoring 12 points.
Amber Fabeck pulled down 10 rebounds for the Blue Devils.
Ripon's Maggie Oimoen came off the bench to score 11 points and added a 12 rebounds for a double-double. Eleanore Mueller had 11 rebounds and Jonalee Elliott had 10 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Stout will make their home debut Sunday, Nov. 26 when they host St. Catherine University at 2 p.m. at Johnson Fieldhouse.
