UW-Superior 82, UW-Stout 62
EAU CLAIRE (November 18, 2017) - UW-Superior used a fast start in the first period and UW-Stout could never quite catch up as the Yellowjackets downed the Blue Devils 82-62 on the second day of the UW-Eau Claire Tip-Off Classic at Zorn Arena.
The Yellowjackets (1-1) outscored the Blue Devils (1-1) 21-12 in the first period. Stout got as close as two points, 25-23, in the second period but Superior bolted out to an 11-point, 40-29 halftime lead.Stout got as close as six points, 48-42, in the third period before the Yellowjackets went on a 15-0 run and held a 48-63 lead at end of the third period.
The Yellowjackets held a decided lead off the glass, pulling down 52 rebounds to Stout's 36.
Kyncaide Diedrich led Stout with 20 points and
Bailey Diersen added 17 points.
Emily Jacques had a career-high nine rebounds to lead Stout.
Hailey Kontney and Hannah Norlin each recorded double-doubles for the Yellowjackets with Kontney scoring 15 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Norlin had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Taylor Kane chiepped in 14 points, Justin Larson 13 and Eva Reinertsen 12 as Superior had five players score in double figures.
Stout returns to action Tuesday, Nov. 21 when they travel to Ripon College.
