UW-Stout 3, St. Scholastica 0
EAU CLAIRE (October 7, 2017) - UW-Stout split a pair of matches at the Sandy Schumacher Memorial at UW-Eau Claire, dropping the first match 3-0 to the College of St. Benedict, but winning the second 3-0 to get back on the winning side Saturday.
Kennedy Strain, who was named to the all-tournament team, tallied 24 total kills over the two matches, driving down 13 against St. Scholastica and 11 against St. Benedict.
The Blue Devils lost to St. Ben's, 25-21, 25-17, 25-22, but bounced back to defeat St. Scholastica, 25-22, 25-13, 25-21.
Emili Cain and
Ashley Pratt each had 10 kills against Scholastica. Cain added a solo block and two assisted blocks.
Amber Ripley backed up Strain against St. Benedict with nine kills.
The win over the Saints snapped an eight-match losing streak for the Blue Devils.
Stout returns home for a pair of conference matches next week, hosting UW-River Falls, Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. and UW-Whitewater, Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
