MENOMONIE (October 11, 2017) - Holding a two set to one advantage, UW-Stout rolled up a 9-3 lead in the fourth set before UW-River Falls made a run at the Blue Devils and actually jumped out to a 10-9 lead Wednesday at Johnson Fieldhouse.
Amber Ripley tied the score at 10 for the Blue Devils and the teams traded points until 13-13 when Stout went off on a 3-0 run, with kills by
Emili Cain and
Emily Bialka, along with an assisted block by Cain and
Kennedy Strain. The Falcons (15-10, 0-4 WIAC) never got closer than two points the rest of the way and Stout (7-15, 2-2 WIAC) evened their conference record with a 26-24, 21-25, 25-20, 25-20 four-set win.
Ripley led the way for Stout, recording 12 kills, while Cain,
Ashley Pratt and
Kennedy Strain each chalked up 11 kills.
Jessica DuVal had 43 assists and finished with five kills, including a tip kill in fourth set to give Stout a 19-15 lead. The Blue Devils finished the night with 10 service aces, the third most of the season.
Emily Makina dropped in three service aces and Ripley and Pratt each had two. Cain finished the night with three block assists. Pratt and Strain each had two block assists.
The Falcons got eight kills from Hannah Striggow. Dakotah Poitra, Savannah Brauer, Amara Meyer and Karli Nielsen each had seven kills. Nielsen finished with four block assists.
The Blue Devils will host UW-Whitewater, Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. and will be at Hamline University, Saturday, Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m.
