MENOMONIE (October 4, 2017) - UW-Stout stayed close with Augsburg University throughout the evening, but attack errors made the difference and the Auggies defeated the Blue Devils, 25-20, 25-20, 25-21, at Johnson Fieldhouse Wednesday.
Both teams finished the night with 42 kills, but the Blue Devils (5-13) committed twice as many errors, tallying 20 to Augsburg's 10. The Blue Devils hit at a .179 clip while Augsburg was a much more efficient .311.
Stout's
Kennedy Strain (Jr, Elk River, Minn) led all hitters with 16 kills, her highest tally of the season. Strain also had one solo block, three assisted block and one service ace. Freshman
Emili Cain (Corcoran, Minn) finished the night with eight kills.
Jessica DuVal (So, Logan, Iowa) had 37 assists.
Ellie Schwartz led Augsburg (14-4) with 14 kills and had one solo block and two assisted blocks. Taylor Linn finished with eight kills. Morgan Malley had 35 assists.
Stout will be at the Sandy Schumacher Memorial Invitational Friday, Oct. 6 and Saturday, Oct. 7 where they will play Millikin University, the College of St. Benedict and the College of St. Scholastica.
