MENOMONIE (October 31, 2017) - Hannah Kirchner scored in the 103rd minute to give UW-Stout a 2-1 win over UW-Stevens Point in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Soccer Championship quarterfinal game, presented by Culver's.
With the score at 1-1 apiece in the second overtime, Kirchner took a pass, temporarily lost the touch, regained the ball, spun full circle and fired a long looping shot that hit the opposite corner of the net for the game winner. The goal was Kirchner's first goal of the season.

Stout (9-5-5) opened up the game with an unassisted goal by Kaitlyn Hess in the seventh minute. The Pointers tied the game on a goal from Kenadie Cain in the 42nd minute.

Both Stout's Lynn Johnson and Stevens Point's Lynn Peplinski each had six saves. Stout outshot the Pointers, 14-9.

Stout will play at top-seeded UW-La Crosse, Thursday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m., in the second round of the WIAC Championship. The Blue Devils lost, 4-0, to the Eagles in their previous meeting, Oct. 11 in La Crosse. The Eagles are 16-1-2 overall and 7-0 in the WIAC after downing UW-Oshkosh, 5-2, Oct. 28. The Eagles will enter the game with Stout on an 11-game winning streak. La Crosse is ranked 16th on the United Soccer Coaches National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Top-25 Poll
