UW-Stout 3, Aurora University 3
AURORA, Ill (October 28, 2017) - UW-Stout scored three power play goals and needed every one of them as the Blue Devils played Aurora University to a 3-3 tie Saturday at the Fox Valley Ice Arena.
The Blue Devils notched their first power play goal of the game midway through the first period as
Kyle Sylvester scored at 13:17, with an assist by
Mathias Ahman.
The Spartans tied the game in the second period on Dan Zielecki's goal at 9:01.
The third period turned into a wild one with four total goals, two by each team. Aurora took the lead just over a minute into the period when Luke Picek scored shorthanded.
Stout came back, again on the power play, when
Conner Valesano scored at 2:33, with Ahman's second assist of the game to the game at 2-2.
Aurora grabbed the lead back at 13:03 when Rudolfs Kalvitis scored and Aurora held a short-lived 3-2 lead.
Stout took advantage of another power play, this time by
Connor Chambers only 30 seconds later. He was assisted by
Alex Toscano and
Adam Kresl.
Evan Hauser made his first start in goal for the Blue Devils and recorded the tie with 19 saves. Josh Boyko was in goal for the Spartans and made 24 saves. Stout was 3-for-5 on the power play, while Aurora was 0-for-6.
Stout makes their home debut, Friday, Nov. 3 when they entertain Concordia-Moorhead at 7 p.m. at the Fanetti Community Center. Stout will host St. John's University, Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
