MENOMONIE (September 24, 2016) - There was even some tennis under the lights as the UW-Stout tennis team wrapped up a long day by defeating Bethany Lutheran College, 9-0, and Alverno College, 7-2, Saturday at the South Courts in a double dual.

Gabe Kelch won both of their matches.
The Blue Devils won all of their singles matches against Bethany Lutheran in straight sets and none of the doubles teams gave up more than two games.
Against Alverno, Pedersen, Kreibich, Welke and Lano won in straight sets.
Perhaps the most entertaining match of the day was the match to finish off the evening. With four matches playing after dark and the lights on, the No. 1 match between Stout's Thisius and Alverno's Brooke McBain went the longest.
Thisius took the first set, 7-5, but then dropped the second set in a tie-breaker 7-6 (7-4). McBain came back to capture the marathon with a 10-6 final set win.
Pedersen, playing at No. 2 singles, defeated Bethany Lutheran's Ryana Sadaka, 6-0, 6-0, and downed Alverno's Michelle Alexander, 6-4, 6-2. Kreibich played at No. 3 against Bethany, defeating the Vikings' Denae Walter, 6-0, 6-1. She moved to No. 4 singles against Alverno's Lia Hutchins, winning 6-0, 6-2. Welke played both sets at No. 5, defeating Bethany's Justine Bennett, 6-0, 6-3, and the Inferno's Makayla Butler, 6-3, 6-0. Lano started the day at No. 4, defeating BLC's Sabrina Batalden, 6-0, 6-0, then moving to No. 6 against Alverno, getting a 6-0, 6-3, win.
Playing No. 1 doubles, Thisius and Lano defeated Bethany Lutheran, 8-2, and Alverno College, 8-3. At No. 2 doubles, Pedersen and Welke defeated Bethany, 8-1,and Alverno, 8-0, and at No. 3 doubles, Kreibich and Kelch won their Bethany Lutheran match, 8-2, and their Alverno match, 8-4.
The Blue Devils will take to the road for only the second time of the season next weekend when they are at Ripon College, Saturday, Oct. 1, then will be at UW-Stevens Point, Sunday, Oct.2 to take on the Pointers in a conference match and St. Norbert College in a non-conference contest.
