Blue Devil volleyball opens season by splitting Day One games

Match One: Loras def. Stout, 25-17, 25-20, 13-25, 9-25, 15-7
Match Two: Stout def. Westminster, 25-20, 25-16, 19-25, 30-28
 
ST. PAUL, Minn (September 2, 2016) - UW-Stout split a pair of pair of matches at the first day of the University of Northwestern Tournament in St. Paul, Minn.
 
The Blue Devils (1-1) came back from a two set deficit to send the match into a fifth set, but came up short in a 25-17, 25-20, 13-25, 9-25, 15-7, loss to Loras College in the opening game.
 
Middle blockers Ashley Pratt (Jr, Lakeville, Minn) and Kennedy Strain (Elk River, Minn) both had 12 kills in the opener against Loras and Strain had four solo blocks and two assisted blocks.
 
The Blue Devils held off Westminster College in the second match, 25-20, 25-16, 19-25, 30-28.
 
Pratt had 14 kills against Westminster and Strain added 11.

Jessica DuVal (Fr, Logan, Iowa) recorded 28 assists in freshman debut at setter, then added 37 against Westminster.
 
The Blue Devils will play St. Scholastica and Augsburg College, Saturday, Sept. 3.
