UW-Stout 23, Mayville State 13
MAYVILLE, ND (September 17, 2016) - UW-Stout intercepted three Mayville State passes, recovered two fumbles,
Drew Pearson kicked three field goals,
Travis Urlaub had a 100-yard game and
Iyen Ogbomoh had four sacks as the Blue Devils took a 23-13 win over NAIA opponent Mayville State University in Mayville, ND, Saturday.

Enzo Rosani had two interceptions for the Blue Devils and
Josh Johnson had one.
Troy Rudesill and
Luke Wilz each recovered a fumble.

The game was tied at 13-13 at halftime. The Blue Devils (2-1) took a 13-0 lead on a 44-yard field by
Drew Pearson in the first period, and QB
Jay Alston capped off a 10-play, 87 yard drive by running in from 5-yards out after a
Josh Johnson interception stopped the Comets.

Mayville (1-2) took advantage of an Alston interception and scored four plays later to pull to within 10-7. The Comets took the lead with 31 seconds remaining, but missed the two-point conversion.

Stout's Pearson booted a 52-yard field as time elapsed to knot the score, marking a career-best and only two yards short of the school record. The last time a UW-Stout player kicked a 50-plus yard field goal was Oct. 20, 2007 when Brandon Raciborski gave Stout a 28-27 win over UW-River Falls.

Travis Urlaub put the Blue Devils up for good five minutes into the third quarter on a two-yard run to go up 20-13..

Stout closed out the scoring on a 42-yard field goal by Pearson.

Urlaub finished the game with 108 yards rushing – his second 100-yard game this season – on 23 carries.

Stout finished with 271 total yards, 164 rushing, 107 passing. The Comets finished with 276 total yards, 213 through the air and 63 yards rushing.

Stout finished with five sacks – four by Ogbomoh – and 10 total tackles for loss.
Isaiah Hardy had two tackles for loss and forced a fumble.

Stout has a bye next weekend, then will resume play Saturday, Oct. 1 at UW-Oshkosh.
