UW-Stout 5, Simpson College 4
MENOMONIE (April 9, 2016) -
Jenna Welke and
Linsey Thisius each figured into a pair of wins as the UW-Stout tennis team opened the spring season with a 5-4 win over Simpson College Saturday in the Sports and Fitness Center.
Welke figured into two wins and her 6-2, 6-2, No. 5 win over Liz Nimmo determined the winner of the match. Welke and Nimmo were the final competitors on the courts with the score tied at 4 wins apiece. Welke also paired with
Emma Pedersen to win at No. 2 doubles, 8-5.

Thisius took two matches, winning at No. 1 doubles with
Anna Lano, 8-3, and at No. 1 singles over Kelli Ehrhardt, 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.
Gabe Kelch grabbed her first varsity win, coming back in her No. 6 singles match. Kelch lost the opening set, 7-5, to Katie Platts, but bounced back with set victories of 6-4, 10-4.
Stout will host Martin Luther College, Monday, April 11 at 4 p.m. and St. Mary's University, Thursday, April 14.
