UW-Stout 3, UW-Stevens Point 1 (8 inn)
STEVENS POINT (April 30, 2016) -
Tori Workman recorded two wins and hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth of the second game to lift UW-Stout to a 5-2, 3-1, sweep of UW-Stevens Point Saturday. With the wins, Stout earns the fifth and final seed to the WIAC Softball Championship.

Workman started the first game, working 5.2 innings but recorded no strikeouts.

It was a different story in the second game. Â Workman came on in relief with the score tied at 1-1 and pitched 6.0 scoreless innings, striking out nine.
The Pointers opened the game with a run in the bottom of the first, but the Blue Devils answered back to tie the game in the top of the third when
Rachel Thomas laced a two-out single up the middle.
Karley Wiensch reached on an infield single, moving Thomas to second.
Beth Wood brought in Thomas with a single to left field.
Wood finished the game going 3-for-4 at the dish, while Wiensch and Thomas were 2-for-4.
In the opener, the Blue Devils (16-18, 5-9 WIAC) used a three-run fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead and hold on for the 5-2 win. In the inning,
Sara Griesbach had a two-run double and
Rachel Thomas had an RBI single.
The Blue Devils then added a run in the top of the fifth inning on a home run by
Alyssa Germscheid. The Pointers (12-22, 3-10 WIAC) then answered in the bottom half of the inning with a home run of their own by Paige Allen.
The Pointers had one last rally in the seventh inning, when Payton Mix hit a one out double. She was then followed by a double by Paige Allen, which advanced Mix to third. Morgan Johnson then delivered an RBI groundout before Bailie Sheahan lined out to left to end the game.
Seven different Blue Devils recorded one hit.
Alyssa Germscheid had a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Stout will close out the home portion of their schedule with a non-conference game by hosting Bethel University, Sunday, May 1 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day at Alumni Field. Stout will compete in the WIAC Championship and will open the tournament with a 10 a.m. contest, Saturday, May 6 against a yet to be determined opponent at Eau Claire's Carson Park.
