UW-Stout 8, Alverno College 1
MILWAUKEE (April 23, 2016) - UW-Stout defeated Marian University, 7-2, and Alverno College, 8-1, in the team's final matches of the season in Milwaukee.
Katie Kreibich and
Katie Govin recorded two singles wins on the day. Kreibich opened the day with a 6-4, 6-0, win at No. 3 over Marian's Andrea Krahenbuhl, then stepped up to No. 2 to down Alverno's Laeren Yates, 7-5, 6-1. Govin won two No. 4 wins, downing Marian's Melissa Spannbauer, 6-1, 6-0, and Alverno's Lauren Fischer, 6-3, 6-1.
Emma Peterson and
Jenna Welke won two doubles matches. The team won at No. 1 doubles over Marian, 8-4, then stepped to No. 2 where they notched a win over Alverno, 8-4.
The wins got the Blue Devils to 8-8 to finish the season, the most wins in a season since the 2007-08 season when Stout finished at 10-5.
