MENOMONIE (April 17, 2016) - UW-Stout salvaged a split with visiting Wartburg College by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning of the nightcap to capture a 2-1 win. Wartburg shutout the Blue Devils in the first game, 7-0.

Wood earned the win by going the distance and striking out four. Wood got out of several jams throughout the day, stranding three runners in the second, two in the third, two in the fourth and left a runner on third base in the seventh inning. The Knights outhit Stout 8-5, but left 10 runners on base. The first inning was the only inning Wartburg did not get a base runner.
In the first game, Stout (12-14) managed three hits and committed six errors. Wartburg (12-20) scored four runs in the fifth. Mara Forsythi was 2-for-4 with two RBI in the first game for Wartburg and scored the Knights' only run in the second game on a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Rachel Thomas and
Kim Jablonski both recorded a hit in both games.
Stout will be at the University of Northwestern, Wednesday, April 20, then return home to host UW-River Falls Thursday, April 21 at 4 p.m.
