ST. PAUL, Minn. (April 20, 2016) - UW-Stout and the University of Northwestern battled in a pair of one-run games with the Eagles capturing the first game, 5-4, in eight innings and the Blue Devils taking a 3-2 win in the nightcap.
Heather Bol hit a two-run home run and
Kaylee Francois hit an RBI double in the fourth inning of second game to give Stout enough margin for the win. The Eagles came back and scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
The Blue Devil win snapped a 10-game winning streak by the Eagles. The win also gave Blue Devil pitcher
Tori Workman her 53rd career win, tying the school record held by Karen Lien and Carolyn Bare.
In the opener, the Blue Devils scored single runs in the second and third innings, but the Eagles scored three runs in the third to take the lead.
Sara Griesbach and Bol executed a double steal where Griesbach took home in the sixth ininng. Stout went ahead in the eighth when Griesbach bunted home
Nicole Rogers, but the Eagles scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning for the win.
Stout is scheduled to host UW-River Falls, Thursday, April 21 at 4 p.m.
