Blue Devils grab pair of shutouts over UW-Platteville

MENOMONIE (April 16, 2016) - UW-Stout's Tori Workman and Beth Wood both pitched complete game shutouts as the Blue Devils defeated UW-Platteville, 6-0, 2-0, Saturday at Alumni Field.
 
Workman struck out eight and had a perfect game going into the fifth inning when Crystal Rote cracked a single. The Pioneers (3-17, 0-4 WIAC) got another hit in the sixth inning a double by Carley Rote.
 
Stout (11-13, 3-5 WIAC) scored three in the fourth and three in the fifth. Sara Griesbach's fielder's choice in the fourth proved to be the game-winning RBI. Griesbach and Kaylee Francois each had two RBI for Stout. Heather Bol was 2-for-3
 
Wood allowed three hits and struck out six in the second game.
 
The Blue Devils scored twice in the bottom of the sixth. Rachel Thomas singled to left, then stole second. Thomas scored from second when Karley Wiensch's sacrifice bunt was overthrown and Wiensch went to third. Wood's sacrifice fly to right plated Wiensch.

Stout will host Wartburg College, Sunday, April 17 for Alumni Day. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
