Game 1: Johns Hopkins 16, UW-Stout 13 |
Game 2: UW-Stout 4, Augustana 2FORT MEYERS Fla. (March 17, 2016) - In a game where three Blue Devils had six at-bats, UW-Stout fell to Johns Hopkins University while scoring 13 runs.
Stout racked up 16 hits;
Jon Krueger,
Josh Halling,
Dane Helnore and
Jordan Wilson all had two hits apiece in the game. In the second game, Stout's
Max Sires pitched a complete game allowing only two runs. Stout was able to grab the win, scoring four runs.
Stout had a good fourth inning after scoring one run in the third. In the fourth,
Nick Nalbach, Halling and
Tyler Kinderman all scored for the Blue Devils behind a double from Kinderman and an up the middle, two RBI, single from
Jordan Wilson. Stout struggled to produce runs until a great eighth inning where they scored six runs. A barrage of singles, a walk and a wild pitch helped their cause, but even with the 13 runs, they found themselves on the losing end to the Blue Jays.
The Blue Devils played great defense and had a good perfomance out of Sires, who picked up his first win. Sires struck out two and Stout's defense had his back, getting him out of jams and doing their part when it counted.
The first Blue Devil score came in the third inning on a single from
Austin Littmann to drive in
Nate Sorenson. Stout then went on to score one in the sixth and two in the seventh to seal the game.
The Blue Devils will face off tomorrow in a double-header with Edgewood College.
