UW-Stout 2, Bethel 1FORT MEYERS FLA. (March 15, 2016) - Stout fell in their first contest to Bethel but was helped out by a wild pitch in the second game to get the win. The first contest was an 8-4 loss in which the Blue Devils had three hits from
Brady Burzynski. The second game consisted of scores in the first and final inning;
Josh Halling scored on a wild pitch from the Royals.
To open the first game, Burzynski led the game off with a home run. Stout then continued to score in the third and fourth innings on hits from
Noah Brown and an
Austin Littmann hit-by-pitch that drove home
Jared Jarvensivu. The Blue Devils then surrendered seven runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh that gave the win to Bethel.
Stout bounced back in the second game, scoring in the first inning after a double play moved Littmann to third and a Halling single that drove him home. Stout gave up a run in the seventh to tie the game at one.
In the bottom of the eighth inning Halling singled to center field. He then stole second and was moved to third after pinch hitter
Jordan Wilson was put out at first. Halling was brought home after a wild pitch that gave Stout the win.
Stout will play one game tomorrow, facing off against the College of Wooster at 12 p.m. (ET).
