UW-Stout 64, Saint Mary's University 54
ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (November 19, 2016) - UW-Stout's
Kyncaide Diedrich played 35 minutes and scored a career-best 21 points as UW-Stout downed Saint Mary's University, 64-54, Saturday in the first game of the College of St. Benedict Tournament.

Bailey Diersen added 13 and
Jenna Goldsmith had 11 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Devils, who notched their first win of the season.
The Blue Devils took the first lead of the game, a 3-pointer by Diedrich, but Saint Mary's took a short lead a few minutes later but that would be it as Diedrich made an old-fashioned three-point play midway through the first quarter to take a 7-5 lead and Stout never trailed again, taking as much as a 23 point lead in the second quarter.
The Cardinals (1-1) did not go away and whittled the lead into single digits in the third quarter, then got as close as two points, 51-59, with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
Stout got a 3-pointer from Diedrich,six points from
Bailey Diersen and four points from
Anna Brown down the stretch. Brown recorded a steal with just seconds remaining in the game to seal the 10 point win.
Saint Mary's, which was receiving votes in the preseason D3hoops.com Top 25 Coaches poll, got 13 points from Emma Schaefer, 11 points from Brandi Blattner and 10 from Sam Jones.
The Blue Devils will meet St. Benedict, Sunday, Nov. 20 at 4 p.m. in the final game of the tournament.
