Box Score Concordia-Wisconsin 3, UW-Stout 2
MEQUON (November 19, 2016) -
Connor Valesano scored with just over two minutes remaining in the game to pull UW-Stout to within one goal, but the Blue Devils could get only one me shot on frame in the remainder of the game, falling 3-2 to Concordia University, Wisconsin Saturday at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
The Falcons (4-3-1) opened the game with three straight goals before the Blue Devils (4-4-0) got on the board. Eric Thiessen got things started for Concordia with a goal at 2:53 of the first period. Jim Pearson got his first of two goals for Concordia, scoring on the power play at 6:43 of the first period.
Pearson scored again on the power play, this time at 13:55 of the second and Concordia took a 3-0 lead.
Stout finally got on the board when
Joe Kleven, assisted by
Colton Brausen and
Jack Forbort at 18:06 of the second.
Valesano scored unassisted at 17:49 in the third period to push the Blue Devils to within one, 3-2.
Stout outshot Concordia, 32-25 overall. Stout's
Tommi Ahlgren recorded 22 saves, while the Falcons' Jack Romanuik made 30 saves.
Stout is off until they begin WIAC play, Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at UW-Eau Claire. The Blue Devils will be at UW-Superior, Friday, Dec. 2.
