UW-River Falls 2, UW-Stout 0
MENOMONIE (October 5, 2016) - UW-Stout had ample opportunities but could not convert on those opportunities and UW-River Falls took advantage of the few opportunities they had to defeat the Blue Devils, 2-0, Wednesday in WIAC action at Nelson Field.
The Blue Devils (2-7-1, 0-2-0 WIAC) held a 16-11 advantage in total shots and put 75 percent of those shots on frame, but could not break the plane of the net. Stout put 12 shots on net compared to six for the Falcons (4-6-1, 1-1-0 WIAC).
Carrie Anderson scored twice for the Falcons, getting her first goal in the 31st minute from directly in front of the goal. Anderson scored six minutes into the second half to give the Falcons the 2-0 advantage.
Erica Cimochowski stopped 12 shots for the Falcons.
Lynn Johnson made four stops for Stout.
Ryanne Millis had five shots on net, while
Sydney Kasper had three shots for the Blue Devils. Anderson put three shots on goal for the Falcons.
The Blue Devils stay in league play, traveling to UW-Stevens Point, Saturday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. Stout returns home and steps out of conference play when they host St. Thomas, Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.
