UW-Whitewater 72, UW-Stout 60 (Box Score)WHITEWATER (January 6, 2016) - UW-Whitewater used a 12-0 run midway through the third period to put some separation between themselves and UW-Stout and went on to a 72-60 win Wednesday at Kachel Gymnasium in a WIAC opener for both teams.
The Warhawks (12-0, 1-0 WIAC) held a 39-31 halftime lead, and the teams traded points before Whitewater's Lisa Palmer scored a pair of baskets and Maddie Bare drained a pair of 3-pointers to jump out to a 55-36 lead with just under four minutes remaining in the third quarter.
Stout (6-6, 0-1 WIAC) several times pulled within 11 points throughout the rest of the game, but could not get the lead under 10 points.

Kyleigh Hebert (Sr, Spencer) led all scorers with 15 points, going 6-of-7 from the field.
Bailey Diersen (Fr, Greenville) came off the bench to score 12 points.
The Warhawks had four players in double figures, led by Palmer's 114. Bare finished with 12. Malia Smith chipped in 11 points and Andrea Meinert tossed in 10 points. The Warhawks outrebounded Stout, 43-31. Palmer pulled down nine. Stout's

Stout returns to Johnson Fieldhouse Saturday, Jan. 9 to host UW-River Falls at 3 p.m. The Blue Devils will host UW-Eau Claire, Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m.
