Archived VideoMENOMONIE (January 13, 2016) - UW-Stout cut into the UW-Eau Claire lead late, but fell in the fourth quarter on a final score of 81-67 with Eau Claire on top. The Blue Devils were led by
Shannan Watkins who scored 12 points.
The Bluegolds (7-7, 2-1 WIAC) jumped on Stout (6-8, 0-3 WIAC) in first quarter, on top 21-11 at the end of the first quarter. Stout managed to fight, but the Bluegolds were rolling, going up by 16 points at half time. The first half buzzer ended with the score 39-23.
A good second half by the Blue Devils helped them cut in to, at one point, a 22-point Eau Claire lead to bring the game to within 13 points on two made free throws by Watkins. The Bluegolds proved to be too much. The game ended 81-67.
Stout had three players in double figures: Watkins with 12 ,
Sarah Schoch added 10 and
Bailey Diersen also added 10 off the bench.
Eau Claire was led by sophomore Erin O'Toole who dropped 35 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked four shots.
The Blue Devils will head to Platteville Saturday Jan. 16 to play the Pioneers at 7 p.m.
