Ashley Pratt (So, Lakeville, Minn) collected 16 kills in a five set win over New York University on the first day of the West Coast Classic, then nearly topped the mark by putting down 14 kills in a three set win over Occidental College later in the day at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College Friday.
The Blue Devils took a 25-15, 16-25, 24-26, 25-19, 15-7 come-from-behind win over NYU and a 25-19, 27-25, 25-16 over Occidental.
Stout (2-0) and NYU split the first two sets of the match and it looked like Stout would capture the third set before New York came back for win and the 2-1 lead.Stout stormed back in the final two sets. The Blue Devils had four players in double digits against New York, led by Pratt who hit at a .364 clip. Pratt also collected two solo blocks and three assisted blocks.
Molly Brion (Sr, Cameron) finished with 15 kills, while
Carly Troudt (So, Lino Lakes, Minn) and
Rachel Tschumperlin (Sr, Faribault, Minn) each collected 13 kills.
Maddie Phyle (So, Rosemount, Minn) had 29 assists and
Emily Bialka (Fr, Cottage Grove, Minn) had 26 assists.
Pratt was the only Blue Devil in double digits against Occidental and was solid defensively at the net, recording a solo block and five block assists.
Payton Schultz (Fr, Lino Lakes, Minn) added three of Stout's four service aces.
Stout will conclude their trip Saturday, Sept. 5 when they face Whittier College and the University of La Verne.
