MENOMONIE (September 30, 2015) - UW-Stout controlled the field the majority of the game, but could not put the ball in the back of the net and the Blue Devils were defeated by UW-Eau Claire, 2-0, Wednesday at Nelson Field.
The Blugolds (3-4-3, 2-0-0 WIAC) put only two shots on goal, but both shots found the back of the net.
Tara Dennehy scored in the 22nd minute to open the scoring and Eva Charlesworth-Seiler deflected a shot off a Stout player in the 41st minute to end the scoring.
The Blue Devils (6-2-2, 2-1-0 WIAC) had a chance after Eau Claire's first goal, but
Megan Collins' (Sr, Maple Grove, Minn) shot went high. In the second half,
Jenna Kizlik (Sr, Hammond) bent a free kick that went off the crossbar.
Stout outshot Eau Clair, 11-5 overall and put five shots on frame, which were all stopped by Sammie Lefaive. Stout's
Paige Meyer (Sr, Beldenville) had no saves on the night.
Stout returns to conference action Saturday, Oct. 3 when they host UW-Oshkosh at 1 p.m.
