MENOMONIE (September 16, 2015) - UW-Stout rallied from a 2-1 halftime deficit to tie the game, but could not overcome Viterbo University in the overtime period, falling to the V-Hawks, 3-2, Wednesday at Nelson Field.
The loss was the first of the season for the Blue Devils (2-1-2), which opened the scoring in the contest when freshman
Sydney Kasper (Owatonna, Minn) scored her first collegiate goal in the 21st minute, getting an assist from
Camille Fawcett (Jr, Byron, Minn).
The V-Hawks (4-7-0) roared back, scoring two goals in just over three minutes of time. Courtney Morgan scored in the 23rd minute, the the V-Hawks' scoring machine, Molly Machometa scored her first goal of the season in the 26th minute.
Sarah Todey (Jr, Maple Grove, Minn) knotted the score, grabbing an unassisted goal in the 52nd minute.
Machometa scored the game winner with three minuted remaining in the first overtime period.
Paige Meyer (Sr, Beldenville) recorded six saves. Alicia Seachord recorded one save for the V-Hawks, working the first half before giving way to Ashley Hicks, who went the rest of the way to record the win and notched four saves along the way.
Stout will open conference play when they UW-Stevens Point, Saturday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. The Blue Devils host St. Scholastica, Sunday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m.
