Photo GalleryMENOMONIE (September 1, 2015) - In a defensive battle to open the season, UW-Stout and Macalester College played to a scoreless tie in double overtime in the season opener for both teams Tuesday at Nelson Field.
The Scots (0-0-1) outshot Stout, 14-7, overall and put five shots on net compared to one for the Blue Devils (0-0-1). 
Paige Meyer (Sr, Beldenville) recorded all five saves while Macalester's Rachel Wilson-King recorded a single save.
Stout had a couple of opportunities. 
Kelly Conn's (Jr, Menasha) shot in the box with just less than three minutes remaining in the final overtime period was stuffed by a Macalester defender. Conn had a chance midway throughout the second regulation period, taking a kick from 
Jenna Kizlik (Sr, Hammond) and putting a head on it, but the ball went wide. Kizlik had a header early in the second overtime that went wide.
The Blue Devils return to action Saturday, Sept. 5 when they host the College of St. Benedict at 1 p.m. at Nelson Field.
